Users

Settings → Users lists the people who sign in to your company's Company Portal. From here you add new users, choose their roles, send invitations, and manage their access and passwords.

Your customers' Customer Portal sign-ins are not managed here. You invite customers from their customer record — see Customers.

The user list

The list shows each user's last name, first name, phone, cell phone, email and roles. To narrow it down:

  • Use the Select a Role filter to show only users with particular built-in roles.
  • Turn on Disabled Users to include disabled accounts. They carry a Disabled label.
  • Type in the search bar at the top of the page to find a user.

Select a user's row, or choose View from the ⋮ menu at the end of the row, to see their details. The ⋮ menu also holds the actions described below.

What you see in the list depends on your permissions: Users tab - view own account shows your own account, and Users tab - view/edit/add users shows everyone else.

Add a user

  1. Select Add User.
  2. Enter the person's First Name, Last Name and Email. Middle name, phone numbers, address and a profile photo are optional.
  3. On the left of the dialog, choose a role. Use + to add more roles, up to six, or − to remove one. Every user needs at least one role.
  4. Select Save.

Each email address can belong to only one user. RushHour creates the account and emails the person a welcome message. It contains a temporary password and a Set Password link. They must set their own password before they can use the portal.

The list of roles to choose from is only available to Company Admins, so in practice adding a user is a job for a Company Admin.

Choose roles carefully

A user can do exactly what their roles allow. Before giving someone a role, check which permissions it has — see Roles and permissions.

Edit a user

Open the ⋮ menu on the user's row and choose Edit, or select the row and then Edit in the dialog. Change their details or roles, then select Save.

When you change someone's roles, ask them to sign out and sign back in so their access reflects the change.

Send an invitation again

If someone didn't receive their welcome email, or their link has expired, choose Invite from the ⋮ menu and confirm.

RushHour emails a new temporary password and a new Set Password link. Earlier invitation links stop working.

caution

Sending an invitation replaces the user's current password with a new temporary one. If the person already uses RushHour, they will need the new email to sign in again.

Disable or enable a user

Disable an account when someone should no longer sign in but you want to keep their account — for example while they are away.

  • Choose Disable from the ⋮ menu and confirm. The user can no longer sign in, and any session they have open stops working.
  • To restore access, turn on Disabled Users, find the user, and choose Enable.

A disabled user's row only offers Enable and Delete.

Delete a user

Choose Delete from the ⋮ menu and confirm. The user is removed from the list and can no longer sign in. Only users with the Company Admin role can delete users.

Passwords

The password options in the ⋮ menu depend on whose row it is and on your role.

OptionWhere it appearsWhat happens
Change PasswordOn your own rowEnter your old password and your new password twice.
Reset PasswordOn other users' rowsRushHour emails the user a link to choose a new password. They are signed out and must set a new password before they continue.
Set PasswordOn users' rows, for Company AdminsYou type a new password for the user and confirm it, or select Auto-generate Password to create one and copy it to your clipboard. The user is signed out and signs in with the new password.

A password you enter with Set Password must be at least 8 characters long and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a special character.

Only users with the Company Admin role can reset or set another user's password.
