Routes

A route is the work for one driver and one truck. On the Dispatch board, each route is shown as a card in the routes panel.

Create a route

  1. On the Dispatch board, select New Route.
  2. Choose the Zone the route belongs to.
  3. Choose the driver type: Company Driver for your own drivers, or Outsource Driver for a driver of a carrier you outsource to. For an outsource driver, choose the carrier first.
  4. Choose the Driver and the Truck.
  5. Select Save.

All four fields are required. You need the Edit/Delete/Create Route permission.

To change a route's zone, driver or truck later, open the route card's ⋮ menu and choose Edit Route. To change only the driver, select the driver's name on the card, search for the new driver and confirm the move.

Read a route card

Each card shows, from top to bottom:

First line

  • Route # and the route number. The badge's color shows the route status; hover it to see the status.
  • A red HOLD badge, with a count, when deliveries on the route are on hold.
  • The truck's name and plate number.
  • The location button, which centers the map on the truck when its position is known.
  • The messages button, which opens the route's conversation with the driver.
  • The + menu, to add unassigned stops to the route. See Add stops from a route card.
  • The ⋮ menu with the route actions below.

Second line

  • The driver.
  • The route's total distance and estimated duration. The duration includes the planned time spent at stops.

Third line

  • The stop count, shown as confirmed / assigned stops. Its color tells you whether the route has no stops, has stops but none confirmed, or has confirmed stops. It also warns you when the route has reached your company's maximum number of stops per route. Hover the count to see what its color means. To see the stops already confirmed, open the card's ⋮ menu and choose Confirmation History. That option appears once at least one stop is confirmed.
  • The truck's load bar, showing how much of the truck's capacity the assigned stops use.
  • The arrow to expand the card and see its stops. See Stop cards and confirmation.

When you expand a route, a banner tells you whether and how the route was last optimized: by distance, by priority, by distance and priority, or with AI — or that it isn't optimized.

Route statuses

StatusMeaning
ActiveThe route the driver is working on now. A driver has one active route at a time.
PendingA route waiting its turn behind the driver's active route.
CompletedA finished route. Completed routes are hidden unless you turn on Completed Routes.

A route with no driver shows a grey badge.

Route actions

Open the route card's ⋮ menu:

ActionWhat it does
Edit RouteChange the zone, driver or truck.
Print BOLPrint the bills of lading for the route's stops.
Copy Route for DriverPrepare the route's stop details for the driver. See Copy to Driver.
Delete RouteDelete the route. Only possible when the route has no stops left to do.
Confirmation History / View Route DetailsSwitch the expanded card between the confirmed stops and the stops still to do. Confirmation History is shown once at least one stop on the route is confirmed.
Transfer to warehouseShown when goods have been picked up on the route. Moves picked-up goods that are still waiting for delivery into one of your warehouses.
Chat HistoryOpen the route's conversation with the driver. For a completed route, this opens your general conversation with the driver instead.
Bot HistoryRead the driver's history with the messaging bot.
RerouteReorder the route's stops automatically. See Optimize a route.
Close AllMark the route's remaining stops as done, using the current time. Deliveries that are on hold or still waiting for a required payment are skipped and stay open. There is no confirmation step, so use it with care.
Merge Stops / Split StopsShow stops at the same address together on one card, or separately. See Combined stop cards.
Archive RouteShown when all the route's stops are done. Marks the route as completed after you confirm.
Start NowFor a pending route. Makes it the driver's active route; the driver's current active route becomes pending.
Start NextFor a pending route. Queues it to become active as soon as the driver's current active route is finished. If the driver has no active route, it becomes active straight away.
RestoreFor a completed route. Makes it active again — or pending, if the driver already has an active route. The driver must be enabled.

A Copy Tracking Links action is being prepared for the route card's ⋮ menu. It will prepare a public tracking link for every trackable order on the route and copy them all to your clipboard at once. See Tracking links.

When you confirm the last stop of a route, RushHour asks whether this is the end of the route. Choose to archive it, or Continue the route to keep it open.

When a route is completed, its chat becomes read-only. Restoring the route reopens the chat.

Maximum stops per route

Your company sets the maximum number of stops a route may hold in Settings → Profile, under Max Route Addresses. When adding stops would take a route over the limit, RushHour refuses and asks you to complete stops on the route or increase the limit.
