Transfers and hubs

Sometimes one driver can't take an order all the way. RushHour lets the goods change hands on the way:

  • A transfer hands the goods from one of your routes to another at one of your locations, such as a warehouse.
  • A hub hand-off is used when the pickup and the delivery can't be connected by a single drivable route — for example, an international order that crosses the sea. The goods are taken to a hub on one leg and continue from a hub on the other.

Your locations are managed in Settings → Locations.

Transfers

When you need a transfer

When an order's pickup is on one route and its delivery is on another, the stop cards show an Assign Transfer warning. Until you set up the transfer, nothing tells the first driver where to leave the goods for the second.

Set up a transfer

  1. On the Dispatch board, select the Assign Transfer warning on the pickup or the delivery.
  2. Under Location, choose where the goods change hands. You can pick one of your saved locations, or add a new one.
  3. Set the Drop Off date and time — when the first driver leaves the goods.
  4. Set the Pickup date and time — when the second driver collects them.
  5. Select Save.

RushHour adds two linked stops:

StopOn which route
Delivery To TransferThe route that picks up the goods. The driver drops them at the transfer location.
Pickup From TransferThe route that delivers the goods. The driver collects them at the transfer location.

Confirming a transfer

The stops of a transferred order must be confirmed in this order, and RushHour won't let you skip a step:

  1. The original pickup.
  2. The Delivery To Transfer.
  3. The Pickup From Transfer.
  4. The final delivery.

Transfer legs are marked (T) in their status once done: Delivered (T) and Picked Up (T).

Rules for transfer stops

  • A transfer stop stays on the route it was created for. You can reorder it within that route, but not drag it to another route.
  • Once the Delivery To Transfer is confirmed, the order's delivery can't be moved to another route until the transfer is undone.
  • If you move the order's stops so that the pickup and delivery end up on the same route, the transfer is no longer needed and its stop is highlighted.
  • When you move an order that has a transfer to another route, RushHour warns you that the transfer will be deleted. You can set up a new one afterwards.

Delete a transfer

Open the transfer stop's ⋮ menu and choose Delete Transfer, then confirm. Deleting one transfer stop also deletes its paired stop. You can only delete a transfer that hasn't been confirmed.

Hubs

When you need a hub

When you save an order whose pickup and delivery can't be joined by a drivable route, RushHour saves it and marks the stops with an Assign HUB warning, in the order workspace and on the Dispatch board.

Assign hubs

  1. Select the Assign HUB warning on one of the stops.
  2. For each pickup and delivery pair, choose the hub the goods pass through. You can pick one of your saved locations or add a new one.
  3. Select Done.

RushHour adds a Delivery To HUB leg and a Pick up From HUB leg, and marks the hub stops with a HUB badge.

Orders that need a hub are assigned to drivers stop by stop, because each leg is usually driven by a different driver. See From the order.

When you move an order that has a hub hand-off to another route, RushHour warns you that the hand-off will be deleted. You can assign a new hub afterwards.
