Optimize a route
Reroute puts a route's stops in a better order for you. It always keeps each pickup ahead of the deliveries that depend on it. You need the Assign/Unassign Orders permission.
Reroute a route
- On the Dispatch board, open the route card's ⋮ menu and choose Reroute.
- If some stops could cause problems, RushHour shows them first. See Stops with issues.
- In Auto Reroute Options, choose how to build the new order (see below).
- For Optimize with AI and Let system choose the first stop, choose Optimize by distance or Optimize by priority under Automatic mode optimization. For Choose the first stop manually, select the stop to start from.
- Select Auto Reroute.
When it's done, the route's stops appear in their new order, and the banner at the top of the expanded route shows how the route was optimized, for example Optimized by AI.
For a step-by-step guide to Optimize with AI, including the rules the AI follows and how its result is checked, see AI routing.
Completed routes can't be rerouted.
Ways to build the order
| Option | How it works |
|---|---|
| Optimize with AI | The AI assistant optimizes the route for you. You can pick the stop to start from, or leave it empty and let the AI choose. The request and its progress appear in the AI assistant panel. See AI routing. |
| Let system choose the first stop | RushHour uses the truck's current location to pick the first pickup, then builds the rest of the route from each stop to the next. |
| Choose the first stop manually | You pick the stop that comes first. RushHour builds the rest of the route from that stop. |
Distance or priority
| Mode | How stops are chosen |
|---|---|
| Optimize by distance | At each step, the nearest stop that can be visited next. |
| Optimize by priority | At each step, the highest-priority stop that can be visited next. Among stops of the same priority, the nearest comes first. |
Stop priorities are set with the priority icon on each stop. See Stop cards and confirmation.
Stops with issues
Before rerouting, RushHour checks the route. If there are problems, Route has issues opens with two lists:
- Past-date stops — stops scheduled before today. For each, select Edit Date to reschedule it, or Exclude from Reroute to leave it out of the new order. Select Include in Reroute to change your mind.
- Stops with unresolved issues — stops with warnings, such as an unassigned pickup or delivery, a missing delivery or transfer, or items that aren't allocated. Use the buttons shown to fix them.
Select Continue to Reroute when you're ready, or Cancel to stop.
Late stops (open stops dated before today) will be optimized together with today's stops instead of oldest day first, and stops for later days will stay in their own groups after today's. See How stops are grouped by day.
Add a stop and reoptimize
When you add an unassigned order to a route with Auto Reroute on its card, you can turn on Also re-optimize this route to reorder the whole route in the same step. See Get a route suggestion.
Reorder by hand
You can always change the order yourself: expand the route card and drag stops up or down. See Reorder stops on a route.
