Your routes and stops

Your dispatcher groups the pickups and deliveries you need to make into routes. Each stop on a route is either a pickup, where you collect freight, or a delivery (drop-off), where you hand it over. The driver app shows your work in two places: the Stops tab and the Routes tab.

When your dispatcher assigns you a new route or changes one, you get a notification. The app also checks for route changes by itself while it is open.

The Stops tab

The Stops tab lists the stops on your orders in two tabs:

  • New Orders — stops you still have to do.
  • Completed Orders — stops you have finished.

Use the search box to find a stop by order number, customer or address. Scroll down to load more.

Select View Details on a stop to see:

  • the customer's name and address, with buttons to call or text the contact when a phone number is available;
  • the shipment details and any documents attached to the order;
  • notes from the office;
  • for a completed stop, the signature collected and the documents scanned at the stop.

The Update Address button on a stop isn't available yet.

The Routes tab

The Routes tab is where you work through your route. It opens on a map showing your route and its stops, and your own position when location access is allowed.

  • Switch between the map and a list of stops with the list button in the header.
  • Choose a route from the route selector at the top if you have more than one.
  • Change the map view with the map controls: map layers (default, satellite, hybrid or terrain), 3D view, compass, zoom and refresh.
  • Find amenities near you, such as fuel and parking, with the amenities button — see Trainings and other tools.

If there are no stops, the app tells you no route has been assigned yet. Contact your manager if you were expecting work.

What a stop card shows

Each stop on the list shows its order number and date, whether it is a pickup or a delivery, and its status:

StatusMeaning
ScheduledYou haven't reached this stop yet.
ArrivedYou marked your arrival at the stop.
AttemptedA pickup or delivery attempt was recorded at this stop.
Pending deliveryEvery item still open at this stop is marked as pending — waiting to be delivered — rather than scheduled.
CompletedThe stop is done.

The card also shows the customer, whether the stop carries freight, the address, any appointment time, a key location note (for example where to find a key or which bell to ring), and expandable details such as pallet information, amounts still to collect and notes.

Get directions

Select Navigate on a stop to open turn-by-turn directions in the app, with the distance and time remaining to the stop. Close the directions panel to return to the map.

Distances are shown in miles or kilometers, depending on your company's setting.

Deliveries on hold

Your office can put a delivery on hold — for example while a payment is outstanding. A held delivery can't be opened or navigated to: the app shows Delivery on hold and asks you to contact dispatch to release it.

Arrive at a stop

When you reach a stop, mark your arrival. You can do this in two ways:

  • When you get close. If location access is allowed, a banner appears when you are near the stop. Select Arrived.
  • By tapping the stop. Tap the stop on the map or list. When the app asks whether you are at your destination, select Arrived (or Not yet).

If the arrival banner appears for a stop that isn't the next one in your route order, the app asks you to confirm before continuing. Once you confirm your arrival, your arrival time is recorded and the stop's details screen opens.

The stop details screen

After you arrive, Pickup Details or Drop-off Details opens. It shows the order number, buttons to text or call the contact, the customer and address, location details and instructions, whether payment has to be collected, and any notes.

From here you either start the stop or record that you couldn't complete it:

StopStart the stopCouldn't complete it

Starting the stop opens the step-by-step flow described in Completing a pickup or delivery.

Record a pickup or delivery you couldn't complete

If you can't complete a stop — for example the business is closed or the customer refuses the delivery:

  1. On the stop details screen, select Pickup Attempt Unsuccessful or Drop-off Attempt Unsuccessful.
  2. Enter the Reason. A reason is required so dispatch knows what happened.
  3. Select Retry Later Today or Can't Pickup Today / Can't Deliver Today.

Either way, the attempt and your reason are recorded, the stop is removed from your route, and it goes back to your dispatcher to plan again. It reappears in your app if it is assigned to you again.
