Driver app settings
Settings → Driver App controls how the RushHour driver app behaves for all of your drivers. The page has three tabs — Flow, Preferences and Features — each with its own Save button. Drivers pick up the changes the next time their app loads its settings.
Which drivers these settings reach
The settings on this page apply to the current driver app on Android and iPhone. Drivers on an older version should update the app from their store. The one exception is Transfer stops on failed attempt, which RushHour applies itself whenever a failed attempt is reported, whatever version of the app the driver uses.
Flow: the steps drivers follow
The Flow tab lists the prompts drivers are given in four sections:
| Section | Built-in prompts |
|---|---|
| Start of Shift | Enter license plate, photos of the front and back of the vehicle, checks of headlights, turn signals, brake lights, fluid leaks, horn, mirrors, brakes and reverse lights or backup alarm, and a signature. |
| Pickup | Scan items, enter an item number manually, count item contents, photograph the goods, and a signing prompt shown between Scan paperwork and Sign manually. |
| Drop Off | Photograph the goods on arrival, and the same signing prompt for the recipient. |
| End of Shift | Photos of the front, back and inside of the vehicle, and a signature. |
Select Save on the Flow tab to apply your changes.
Start and end of shift inspections
For each prompt in the Start of Shift and End of Shift sections you can:
- switch it on or off;
- for photo prompts, mark it Required so the driver can't skip it, or leave it optional;
- drag it to change its order.
The driver app groups the prompts into its own steps — for example the vehicle photos, the checks and the signature — so the order you set decides the order of prompts within a step, not the order of the steps themselves. Your own checks follow the built-in checks.
Three prompts show Always required and can't be switched off or made optional, because the driver app can't submit an inspection without them: the license plate and the signature at the start of a shift, and the signature at the end of a shift. You can still move them within their section.
Pickup and drop-off steps
At a pickup or a drop-off, the driver app uses these prompts only to decide which steps to show:
- Scan Items switched off removes the barcode scanning step at a pickup.
- Take a photo of goods switched off removes the goods photo step.
- The signing prompt's switch turns the on-phone signature step on (Sign manually) or off. It doesn't control paperwork scanning — whether drivers are asked to scan paperwork is set by Paperwork scanning on the Features tab.
At a drop-off, the goods photo and signature steps also depend on Require photos on delivery and Require signature on delivery on the Features tab: when either is off, that step is left out of deliveries.
The steps at a stop always run in the same order, so dragging prompts and the Required setting don't change what drivers see at a pickup or drop-off. Whether a missing photo or signature stops the driver is set by Block stop completion when requirements are missing.
If you switch off every prompt in the Pickup or the Drop Off section, the driver app treats that section as not set up and shows all of its steps.
Add your own checks
Select Add Custom Part to add a check of your own, such as "Check the load straps". Custom parts can be edited or deleted later.
Custom parts currently reach drivers only in the start-of-shift inspection, where each one appears alongside the built-in checks: the driver marks it as acceptable or damaged, and describes any damage. Custom parts added to the Pickup, Drop Off or End of Shift sections aren't shown to drivers.
Preferences
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Distance unit | Whether the driver app shows distances in miles or kilometers. |
| Map provider | Which map the driver app shows: Google Maps, or the default map of the phone's platform. A change applies the next time the driver opens the map. |
| Transfer stops on failed attempt | What happens to planned transfer stops when a driver reports a failed attempt on the stop that feeds them: remove the transfer legs and notify the driver on the other route, remove them silently, or keep them on their routes. |
| Route refresh (minutes) | How often the app checks dispatch for route changes, from 5 to 240 minutes. |
| Stop proximity notification (km) | How close to a stop the driver is alerted that they are arriving, from 0.5 to 25 km. |
| Late arrival threshold (minutes) | How many minutes past the appointment window a stop counts as late, from 5 to 120. |
