Dispatch

Dispatch is where confirmed orders become work for your drivers. Select Dispatch in the left menu to open the Dispatch board.

Key ideas

  • A route is one driver's run with one truck. It belongs to a zone and holds an ordered list of stops.
  • A stop is a pickup or a delivery from an order. A stop that isn't on any route yet is unassigned.
  • Assigning puts an order's stops on a route. You can put the pickup and the delivery of the same order on different routes and hand the goods over at a warehouse on the way — a transfer.
  • Confirming a stop records that it was done: picked up or delivered, with arrival and departure times. Drivers confirm stops in the driver app; dispatchers can confirm them on the board.

As stops are assigned and confirmed, each order's trip status moves from Unassigned to Dispatched, On Route and Complete. See Statuses and lifecycle.

A typical day

  1. Open Dispatch and choose the day to plan.
  2. Create the routes you need, each with a driver and a truck.
  3. Drag unassigned orders from the Unassigned Orders panel onto routes, or let RushHour suggest the best route for each.
  4. Put each route's stops in a sensible order, by hand or with Reroute.
  5. Send each driver their stops with Copy Route for Driver.
  6. Follow progress on the board and the map through the day, confirming stops and dealing with issues as they come up.
  7. Archive each route when all its stops are done.

Guides in this section

  • The Dispatch board — the panels, filters, board layouts and map.
  • Routes — create routes, read a route card, and start, archive, restore or delete routes.
  • Assign stops to routes — drag and drop, route suggestions, moving work between routes, and unassigning.
  • Stop cards and confirmation — read a stop card, confirm stops, ETAs, and stop actions.
  • Optimize a route — reorder a route's stops automatically by distance, by priority or with AI.
  • AI routing — let the AI assistant re-order a route step by step, and ask it which route should take an unassigned order.
  • Transfers and hubs — hand goods between routes at a warehouse, and hub hand-offs for orders that can't be driven in one leg.
