International pricing and currencies

If you move freight between countries, you can price those shipments from international rate cards, and quote and invoice them in more than one currency.

International rate cards

An international rate card holds your rates for one lane (origin country to destination country), one module (the part of the journey it prices), one mode and one way of counting quantity. Rate cards live inside a pricing model, so your company and individual customers can each have their own.

To open them, go to Settings → Pricing Models, choose the company model or a customer, and click International. The list shows each card's Lane, Mode, what it is Priced per, its Quantity bands, Minimum and Status (Active, Disabled, or Review).

What a rate card contains

PartWhat you set
ModuleWhich part of the journey the card prices: Door to door, Origin pickup, Sea / Air, or Destination delivery.
LaneOrigin country and Destination country, optionally narrowed to an Origin zone or Destination zone — or Any / whole country.
ModeOcean, Air or Ground.
Priced perPallet, Chargeable kg, Piece, CBM (m³) or Containers.
MoneyCurrency, Minimum charge and Fuel %.
What's includedIncl. pickups, Incl. deliveries and Incl. weight (kg).
Volumetric divisorUsed to work out chargeable weight — for example 6000 for air.
ValidityValid from and Valid to. Leave either empty for no limit. A card only prices orders whose order date falls within these dates.
Quantity bandsPrice ranges by quantity (From / To), each with a Rate / unit, a Flat price, or a First unit plus Each additional price, and optionally a Band min.
When a range is quotedIf a band holds a price range, whether to Bill the high end, Bill the low end, Bill the midpoint, or mark it Needs confirmation.
Size upliftsExtra percentages for Small, Medium, Large or Oversize items. To classify items by size, enter all three dimensions (Max L / W / H (cm)) for each class and include a Standard base class at 0%.
SurchargesNamed extra charges — as an amount or a percent — per shipment, first unit, each unit or per location. A surcharge can apply only in a zone, only at pickup or delivery, or charge for extra pickups, extra deliveries or excess weight. For an area, you can also mark it as Included in base price or Price upon request.
Notes and EnabledFree-text notes, and whether the card is in use.

Only one card is allowed per lane (including any origin or destination zone), module, mode and quantity basis. So a single lane can have its own Origin pickup, Sea / Air and Destination delivery cards. Deleting a card does not change orders that were already priced with it.

Cards imported by the AI assistant

You can also create rate cards by uploading a price sheet to the AI assistant, or by describing your rates in chat. When some imported values came from an ambiguous source — such as a quoted range — the card is flagged Review, a warning appears above the list, and the International button shows how many cards need review. Open each flagged card, check the values, and click Mark reviewed. See Importing with AI.

How international orders are priced

When a cross-border order uses the Pricing Model price type, RushHour first looks for a matching international rate card in the customer's pricing model (or your company's default model) before it tries zone rates or the pallet grid. Because the Pricing Model price type is available only for pallet orders, this applies to orders made up of pallet items.

If a rate card matches the lane but cannot price the order, RushHour explains why — for example, the quantity falls outside every band, the band is marked call-for-quote, every matching card is outside its validity dates, or the legs are priced in different currencies.

When a card cannot price an order

Choose what happens in those cases under Settings → Billing → International price-upon-request:

OptionWhat happens
OffThe order is priced by your domestic rules, with no warning.
WarnThe order is still priced by your domestic rules, but the person working on it is told that international pricing could not price it.
BlockThe order stays unpriced until someone enters a price.

Working with several currencies

By default, everything in RushHour is in a single currency. To quote and invoice in other currencies:

  1. Go to Settings → Profile and find Currencies.
  2. Under Enabled Currencies, add the currencies you need. USD is always enabled.
  3. Choose your Default Currency — used for new orders and invoices. It must be one of the enabled currencies.

With more than one currency enabled, a Currency selector appears on quotes and draft orders. Pick the currency when you create the quote or order. Once it has been saved, you cannot change its currency yourself: picking a different currency on a saved quote or draft is not kept when you save.

The one exception is international pricing. If an order is repriced by an international rate card in a different currency and it has no invoice yet, the order switches to the card's currency. If it already has an invoice in another currency, the rate card's price is not applied and the currency stays as it is.

Invoices use the currency of their order, and a payment must be in the same currency as the invoice it pays.

Exchange rates

Under Settings → FX rates you can record your company's own exchange rates — for example your bank's rate or a contract rate.

  1. Choose the currency pair (From and To).
  2. Enter the Rate and the date it applies From.
  3. Optionally note the Source, and save.

Entering a rate for the same pair on the same day replaces the earlier entry. RushHour does not look up exchange rates for you and never guesses a missing rate.
