Shipment types and Classic pricing

Classic is one of the three price types an order can use (see Pricing). RushHour calculates a Classic price automatically, and See Details on the order shows how the price was built.

How a Classic price is calculated

Classic pricing works in one of two ways, depending on Use New Pricing under Settings → Billing → Invoice Presets:

Off	From the estimated cost of the trip — such as distance at your Cost per mile, the driver's time and fuel — plus your Default Markup %.
On	From the rates of the order's shipment type, described below.

You choose an order's shipment type in the order editor (Select Shipment Type).

Invoice presets

Under Settings → Billing → Invoice Presets you set the values Classic pricing starts from:

• Default Markup % — added on top of the calculated cost.
• Cost per mile — the cost used for each mile of the trip.
• Use New Pricing — switches Classic pricing to shipment type rates.

Managing shipment types

Go to Settings → Shipment Types (in the Setup group). The list shows each shipment type's Name, Customer, Markup % and properties. Click Add Shipment Type to create one, or click a row to edit it.

Section	What you set
Properties	Name; an optional Customer, to make the shipment type specific to one customer; and Markup %.
Fees	Flat fees for Fragile, Hazardous, Refrigerated and Overweight shipments.
Properties (rates)	Price brackets that start from a value: Min price per mileage (from miles), Price per hour (from hours), Price per lb (from pounds) and Price per cft (from cubic feet). Click Add to add a bracket.
Price per load size	Prices by load size, starting from a given size.

Testing a shipment type

Click Test in the shipment type dialog, enter sample Hours, Miles, Toll Tag Cost and Toll Count, and add a sample item. RushHour shows the cost lines the shipment type would produce. Click Close Test to return to editing.
