Pricing zones
A pricing zone is a named area you price by — for example "Downtown", "Airport" or "North Jersey". Pricing zones are used by:
- Zone rates in a pricing model, which price shipments between two zones. See Zone rates.
- International rate cards, which can be limited to an origin or destination zone. See International pricing and currencies.
Settings → Zones is a separate list used to organize dispatch. Pricing zones only affect prices.
Creating a pricing zone
- Go to Settings → Pricing Zones (in the Setup group).
- Click Add Pricing Zone and enter a Name.
- Choose the Country the zone belongs to, or leave it as Anywhere.
- Add Members with Add Member, or draw the area on the map (see below). A zone needs at least one member or drawn area. Each member is one of:
- Zip (5-digit) — an exact zip code, such as 90210.
- Zip prefix — every zip code that starts with these digits, such as 902.
- City — a city name, such as Los Angeles.
- Save the zone.
The list shows each zone with its number of members.
Zip and city members are matched as plain text, so a zip prefix can match postal codes in more than one country. If you price shipments in several countries, choose a Country for every zone.
Drawing an area on the map
Instead of — or as well as — zip and city members, you can draw the area a zone covers.
- Open the zone and find Areas on the map.
- Click Draw area.
- Click each corner of the area on the map, then click the first point again to finish.
- Optionally give the area a name, and save the zone.
A zone can have several drawn areas. Use Zoom to this area to find one on the map, or Remove this area to delete it.
A drawn area takes priority over the zone's zip and city members.
Addresses need coordinates to match a drawn area
An address can only be matched to a drawn area if RushHour knows its map coordinates. An address without coordinates is matched by the zip and city members only.
To have RushHour look up coordinates for new addresses, turn on Look up coordinates when an address is saved under Settings → Billing → Address coordinates. It only fills in addresses that have no coordinates yet.
Editing and deleting zones
Open a zone from the list to change its name, country, members or areas. To delete a zone, use its delete action and confirm.
