Pricing models

A pricing model is a rate sheet for pallet shipments. When an order uses the Pricing Model price type, RushHour looks up the order's price in the pricing model of the order's customer — or in your company's default model if the customer does not have one.

The Pricing Model price type works for orders made up of pallet items (Pallets or Pallets+) with 1 to 12 pallets.

Opening a pricing model

Go to Settings → Pricing Models (in the Setup group). The page opens your company's default model.

To work on a customer's own model, choose the customer in the customer selector at the top of the page. You can also open a customer in CRM and go to its Pricing Model tab.

The pallet × mileage grid

The grid is the heart of a pricing model:

  • Each row is a mileage range (for example, 0–50 miles).
  • Each column is a pallet count, from Pallet 1 to Pallet 12.
  • Each cell is the price for that pallet count over that distance.
  • The Discount row above the grid holds a percentage for each pallet count.

RushHour works out prices for larger pallet counts from the prices you enter for smaller loads, together with the discount for each pallet count. You can override any cell:

  1. Click the cell (or its pencil icon) and type a price. The cell becomes a custom price.
  2. To go back to the calculated price, click the small × on the cell (Revert calculated price).
  3. Click Save to keep your changes.

Discounts work the same way: click a discount to set a custom one, or use Remove discount to clear all pallet discounts.

Adding and removing mileage ranges

  1. Click Add Mileage Charge.
  2. Enter Min Mileage and Max Mileage. The range must not overlap an existing one.
  3. Enter the Price for Pallet Count 1 and Price for Pallet Count 2. Both must be greater than zero.
  4. Save.

To remove a range, click the × at the start of its row and confirm.

If an order's distance falls outside every range, RushHour cannot price it and tells you which range to add.

Same-day shipping and rush previews

Above the grid you can switch the grid to its Same Day Shipping view (the truck icon), and turn on the rush Pickup and Delivery toggles to preview the grid with a rush mark-up. While a rush preview is on, grid cells cannot be edited.

Open the add-on settings (Open Add-On Settings, the gear icon) to store the model's Fuel Surcharge (%), Same Day Shipping (%) and Rush Mark-up (a flat fee or a percentage) that these views use.

Add-ons are not added to order prices

The add-on percentages and the rush mark-up are for previewing on this page. RushHour does not add a same-day percentage, a rush mark-up or a fuel surcharge to the calculated price of an order that uses the Pricing Model price type. To bill for same-day or rush service, add a charge to the order (see Charge types and additional charges) or use the Custom price type.

Other actions

ActionWhat it does
Generate from Previous InvoicesProposes grid prices based on what you invoiced in the past. Review the changes, then click Save to apply them.
Revert to DefaultResets the model to the default prices.
Delete Customer Pricing ModelRemoves a customer's own model, so the customer falls back to your company's default model.

Zone rates

Zone rates set a price for shipments between two pricing zones — for example, a flat price from your downtown zone to an airport zone.

  1. Create the zones first under Settings → Pricing Zones.
  2. On the pricing model, click Zone Rates.
  3. Click Add Zone Rate and choose the Origin Zone and Destination Zone.
  4. Choose the Rate Type — Per Pallet or Flat — and enter the Rate.
  5. Optionally limit the rate to a pallet range with Min Pallets and Max Pallets.
  6. Keep Enabled on, and save.

When an order's pickup and delivery fall in zones that have an enabled zone rate, the zone rate prices the order instead of the grid.

Which rate prices an order

For an order using the Pricing Model price type, RushHour uses the most specific rate it finds:

  1. For a shipment to another country, an international rate card — see International pricing and currencies.
  2. A lane rate for the exact origin and destination. Lane rates are added when you import a price sheet with the AI assistant; they are not shown on the Pricing Models page.
  3. A zone rate between the pickup and delivery zones.
  4. The pallet × mileage grid.

Changing a customer's own pricing model requires permission to edit that customer.
