Notification center
The bell icon in the top toolbar is your notification center. A badge on the bell shows how many unread notifications you have. The count updates on its own while you work.
Reading notifications
Click the bell to open the Notifications panel.
- Announcements from RushHour, such as new features or planned maintenance, are pinned at the top.
- Your own notifications are listed below, newest first.
Click a notification to mark it as read and, if it links somewhere, open that page. Click Mark all read to clear the unread count. When there is nothing new, the panel says You're all caught up.
Hover over a notification for more actions:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mark as read / Mark as unread | Changes its read state. |
| Snooze | Hides it until later: 1 hour, Tomorrow at 8:00, or Custom… for a date and time up to 90 days ahead. It comes back when the time is up. |
| Dismiss | Removes it from your list. |
Some notifications ask you to respond with Approve or Deny. Once you respond, the notification shows Approved or Denied.
What you are notified about
| Category | You are notified when | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|
| General | A message arrives that does not belong to a more specific category. | The users it is addressed to. |
| System announcements | RushHour announces something important, such as new features or maintenance windows. | Everyone in your company, or the users it is addressed to. |
| Documents | Documents arrive at your company's inbound email address, an import has been prepared and is ready to review, and in a daily digest of documents that need attention. | Users in your company. Notices about documents that arrived by email go to company administrators only. |
| Late deliveries | An order stop is running late — more than 30 minutes past its scheduled time with no arrival recorded. RushHour checks every hour, looks at stops scheduled in the last 7 days, and notifies you about the same order at most once a day. | Users who turn this category on. |
| Order status | This category is listed in your preferences, but no notifications are sent in it yet. | — |
Late delivery alerts can also reach your customers' Customer Portal users who have subscribed to them. They are only ever told about their own orders.
Choosing your notifications
Go to Settings → Notifications (in the General group), or click Notification settings at the bottom of the notification panel.
For each category, turn In-app (the bell) and Email on or off. Your choices apply only to you.
| Category | In-app by default | Email by default |
|---|---|---|
| General | On | Off |
| System announcements | On — cannot be turned off | Off |
| Documents | On | Off |
| Late deliveries | Off | Off |
| Order status | Off | Off |
RushHour never emails you a notification unless you turn on Email for that category.
A notification category for your QuickBooks Online connection — telling you when the connection has expired or been disconnected — is being prepared.
When it arrives, it will be called QuickBooks connection, go to your company's staff — not to Customer Portal users — and start with In-app on and Email off. RushHour will check the connection every few hours. An expired connection will always be reported; a disconnected one only while invoices or payments are still waiting to be sent to QuickBooks. While the problem lasts, the alert will reappear in the notification center about once a week.
