Payment methods and credit
Saved cards
The Payment tab of a customer record lists the cards saved for that customer. When your team records a payment in Accounting and chooses to pay by card, the customer's default card is the one charged. The default card also appears in the customer panel in Accounting.
Cards are handled through Cardknox, your company's card payment integration, so the Cardknox integration must be set up under Settings → Integrations before cards can be saved.
Add a card
- Open the customer and select the Payment tab.
- Next to Add Payment Method, select the card icon.
- Enter the card number, CVV, expiry month and year, and the name on the card.
- Tick Set as Default if this card should be charged by default.
- Select Add card.
Manage saved cards
- To make a different card the default, select Set as Default under that card.
- To change a card, select Edit; to remove it, select Delete and confirm.
Adding and changing a customer's cards requires permission to edit that customer (Edit customers from own account or Edit customers from other accounts).
Only cards can be saved on this tab. The ACH and PayPal options, and the credit box at the side of the tab, are not available — use the Credit tab for credit information.
Payment history
Next to the saved cards, Payment History lists the customer's invoices with their number, date, amount and a status badge, and lets you download each one. For full invoice and payment details, use Accounting.
The Credit tab
The Credit tab shows the customer's credit limit, how much of it is used (the customer's open balance) and how much is still available, together with the history of credit requests.
Your team can record a request for a line of credit with Request Line of Credit, entering the credit amount, the number of credit days, a backup payment (credit or debit card) and notes. The request is listed under Credit Inquiries with the status Pending.
Approving or declining a credit request isn't available in the Company Portal, so recorded requests stay Pending and do not change the customer's credit limit. The Activate / Deactivate and Discounts controls on this tab are also not available.
