Give routes to carrier drivers

Outsourced work is planned in Dispatch in the same way as work for your own drivers. The difference is that the route is given to a driver who belongs to a carrier.

1. Add the carrier's drivers

  1. Make sure the carrier exists under Outsource — see Add and manage carriers.
  2. Go to Drivers and select Add Driver, or open an existing driver.
  3. In Organization, choose the carrier.
  4. Save. If the driver will use the RushHour driver app, send them an invitation — see Driver app invitations and sign-in.

Carrier drivers appear in the driver list with the company type Outsource, and on the carrier's Drivers tab.

2. Create a route for a carrier driver

  1. Go to Dispatch and select New Route. To change an existing route instead, choose Edit from the route's menu.
  2. Choose the route's Zone.
  3. Switch the driver type from Company Driver to Outsource Driver.
  4. Choose the carrier. The driver list then shows that carrier's drivers.
  5. Choose the Driver and the Truck.
  6. Select Save.

Zone, driver and truck are all required. Trucks are chosen from your company's fleet list under Settings → Fleet.

Once the route exists, assign stops to it on the dispatch board just as you would for any other route. A carrier driver who uses the driver app sees the route and completes its stops there.
