Glossary
The terms you will meet in RushHour, in alphabetical order. Menu paths refer to the Company Portal in the New UI.
Approve (invoice)
Confirming that a draft invoice is correct. An invoice must be approved before it can be paid.
Approve Quote
The action that turns a quote into an order, once the customer has agreed to it.
Attempt
A visit to a stop that could not be completed, recorded with details such as the reason and when to try again. The stop goes back to be planned again.
BOL (bill of lading)
The shipping document that describes the freight being moved and the pickup and delivery details. BOLs can be viewed, downloaded and emailed from an order.
Charge types
The additional charges your company adds to orders and invoices on top of the base price. Set them up in Settings → Charge Types.
Closed
An order status: the order has been delivered and finished.
Company
A business that uses RushHour. Customers, orders, drivers, invoices and settings all belong to one company. See also Tenant.
Company Admin
The built-in role for the people who run the company's account. See Users, roles and permissions.
Company Portal
The web application your own team uses to run the business.
Contact
A person at one of your customers, such as the person you send quotes or invoices to. Contacts are kept on the customer record.
CRM
The New UI name of the sidebar entry for customers. In the Old UI it is called Customers.
Customer
A company or person you move freight for. Quotes, orders and invoices all belong to a customer.
Customer Portal
The web portal your customers use to place and follow orders and to view and pay invoices. You invite customers to it, and customers who already have access can invite colleagues to their own account.

When an order has more than one invoice, the default invoice is the main one for that order.
Delivery
A stop where freight is dropped off.
Dispatch
The part of the Company Portal where stops are assigned to routes and drivers, and where the day's work is followed.
Draft
Work that has been saved but not yet submitted. Orders, quotes and invoices can all be drafts.

HOLD
A hold placed on a whole order or on a single delivery, optionally with a reason, for example while payment is outstanding. Drivers can't deliver held freight until the hold is resolved.
Hub
A warehouse that freight passes through on its way, rather than a customer address. The order is driven to the hub on one leg and continues from the hub on another.
Inbound email
Your company's own email address for forwarding documents into RushHour, such as manifests or purchase orders. You find the address and turn it on or off in Settings → Inbound Email. Documents received at the address are added to Documents; if forwarded documents don't show up there, contact RushHour to check that inbound email is set up for your company.
Invoice
The bill for an order, or a custom bill without an order. Invoices start as drafts, are approved, and are then paid.
Item types
The kinds of freight you choose from when adding items to an order, such as Boxes & Crates, Bags, Pallets, Full Load and Other.

Pricing models
Rules your company uses to price orders. Set them up in Settings → Pricing Models.

Quote
A proposal for moving freight, with a price, that waits for approval. An approved quote becomes an order. Customers' orders submitted from the Customer Portal also arrive as quotes.
