First steps for a new company

This page takes a new company from its first sign-in to being ready for the first order. If your company already uses RushHour and you are joining it, you only need Get access and Sign in.

Get access

Joining a company that already uses RushHour

Do not register a new company. Ask an administrator in your company to add you as a user in Settings → Users. You will receive an invitation email with a link to set your password. Invitation links are only valid for a limited time; if yours no longer works, ask the administrator to send a new one with Invite in the user's action menu.

Registering a new company

  1. On the sign-in page, select Sign Up.
  2. Enter your first and last name, your company name, your email address and a password that meets the requirements shown next to the password field.
  3. Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then select Register account.

You become the company's first user, with the Company Admin role.

New company accounts are activated by RushHour. Until your company has been activated, pages may appear empty or show Access denied. If that happens after registering, contact RushHour.

The Company Portal is at app.rushhourapp.com.

  • Sign in with your email address and password. Select Keep me signed in if you are on your own device.
  • Forgot your password? Select Forgot Password?, enter your email address, and follow the link in the email to set a new password.

Customers sign in to the Customer Portal and drivers sign in to the driver app, each with their own login. See the Customer Portal and Driver app guides.

Use the setup guide

The Set up RushHour guide walks a new user through the essentials: company details, a few questions about your operation, trucks, drivers, customers, integrations, your team and your preferences.

  • The guide opens automatically when you sign in to a brand-new company where nothing is set up yet, or once you have started it — until you finish it, skip it, or select Don't show again. Otherwise, for example when you join a company that is already set up, open it yourself as described below.
  • Every step is optional. Steps you have already covered elsewhere are ticked automatically, because the guide checks your actual data.
  • Open or reopen it at any time from Settings → Setup guide. Until you hide it, a compass button in the top toolbar also opens it and shows how many steps are left.

The rest of this page covers the same ground, for anyone who prefers to work through the settings directly.

Set up the essentials

Work through these in roughly this order. Each step names where the work is done in the Company Portal, using the menu names of the New UI.

1. Company profile

Open Settings → Profile.

  • Company Info — your logo, company name, email addresses, phone and address. These details appear on your documents, such as invoices and bills of lading, and on the emails RushHour sends for you.
  • Order Info — settings applied to your orders, including the units you work in for weight, distance and size.

2. Your team

Open Settings → Users and select Add User for each person who needs to sign in to the Company Portal. Choose one or more roles, enter their name and email address, and save. RushHour emails them an invitation.

Adding users and choosing their roles requires the Users tab - view/edit/add users permission, which only the Company Admin role has in a new company. Read Users, roles and permissions before you decide who gets which role.

3. Customers

Open CRM in the sidebar (called Customers in the Old UI) and select + New Customer. A customer record holds the customer's company details, locations, contacts, pricing and billing preferences, and every quote, order and invoice belongs to a customer.

To let a customer's staff use the Customer Portal, open the customer and use Invite to Portal. Managing Customer Portal access requires the Company Admin role.

4. Drivers

Open Drivers in the sidebar and select Add Driver. Enter the driver's details, including an email address, and tick Send driver an invitation (it appears next to the email field once an address is entered) so the driver receives an email invitation to join your company in the driver app. If you add a driver without inviting them, use Invite from the drivers list later.

5. Trucks

Open Settings → Fleet to add your trucks. Each truck you add there is linked to a vehicle in your Samsara account, so connect Samsara in Settings → Integrations first.

6. Warehouses

If freight passes through your own warehouses or hubs, add them in Settings → Locations and mark your main location.

7. Billing and pricing

  • Settings → Billing — including Create Invoices, which decides whether invoices are created automatically or manually.
  • Settings → Charge Types — the additional charges you add to orders and invoices.
  • Settings → Pricing Models — how your orders are priced.

8. The driver app

Open Settings → Driver App to decide what drivers must do and record at the start and end of a shift and at each pickup and delivery — for example photos and signatures.

These settings apply to the current version of the driver app on Android and iPhone.

9. Integrations

Open Settings → Integrations to connect the other services you use, such as accounting, telematics, maps or card payments. See Integrations.

10. Personal preferences

Open Settings → Systems to choose your language (English or Hebrew) and a light or dark theme. These choices are saved in the browser you are using, so set them again on another computer.
